costume designer Barbara Karinska, New York City Ballet's Costume
Shop has produced some of the most beautiful and elegant costumes
for dance in the world. As any dancer knows, just putting together
some clothes to wear is not enough for a ballet. Costumes for
dance must be both visually interesting, as well as easy to move
in, and the designs of Madame Karinska's workshop are well-known
for being both.
