So You Think You Can Dance Season Five Casting Tour Continues

So You Think You Can Dance has announced the dates for their nation-wide casting call to find potential contestants for the show’s upcoming fifth season. Auditions have already been held in New York, but move on to the rest of the country beginning in Miami on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. The tour will wend its way throughout the U.S. with stops in L.A., Denver and Memphis, before wrapping up Saturday, March 28, in Seattle, Wash.
As always, the show seeks performers of all styles, abilities and personalities. If you plan on attending to audition rather than gawk, be prepared to stand in long lines. (Bringing your own food and water is recommended.) If you’re one the lucky few to be called back, be prepared to stay in the audition city for up to two days. Las Vegas callbacks are currently scheduled for April 1, 2009.
There are only a couple of stipulations for potential contestants. Performers must be between 18 and 30 years old on the day they register to audition and currently hold U.S. citizenship, legal permanent resident status or possess an Employment Authorization Card. (If you’re a minor in your state of residence, bring along a parent or legal guardian to sign documents.)
If contestants meet these rules, they’re free to shake their stuff for the judges and vie for their 15 minutes in the SYTYCD hall of fame (Travis Wall) or hall of shame (Dancing Derrick).

A note about the music for auditions:
Fox has a few stipulations for the musical choices of SYTYCD contestants. First, all tunes must be on a CD. Second, song selections must be “commercially available via retail channels.” That means no re-mixes. Also, be prepared to dance to another song besides the “commercially available” one you’ve brought along. There will be a list of songs to choose from at the audition.
