An unexpected grant from the Hewlett Foundation, along with support from San Francisco Grants for the Arts, has increased funding for CA$H grants in Northern California. CA$H grants were designed to support dance artists and small companies in Northern California's theatre and dance community with budgets under $100,000. With the increase in funding, individual artists are now eligible to receive grants of $2,500 and companies are eligible to receive grants of $5,000. The grants are awarded by a five-member peer panel convened from a volunteer pool of artists and arts professionals.
The deadline to apply is approaching fast, however. Dance applications are due Monday, April 27, 2009. To download an application, click here. The grants are limited to professional artists and organizations. Applications from presenters, venues, non-professional companies or arts education programs will not be accepted.
