The U.S. House of Representatives approved a $15 million increase for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) today. The increase exceeds President Obama's budget request by $8.7 million and would be the highest proposed appropriation for the NEA since its peak in 1992. Unfortunately, this funding increase was approved only in the House of Representatives. Yesterday, the Senate Appropriations Committee set NEA and NEH funding at only $161.3 million each.
