Profile
The Royal Danish Ballet is the resident company of Denmark's Royal Theater in Copenhagen. It was established in 1748 and is one of the oldest major ballet companies in the world. The company was cultivated over the centuries primarily under the tutelage of three great ballet masters: Pierre Laurent, who established the company's school in 1771; Vincenzo Galeotti, who assembled its repertoire of dramatic ballets and August Bournonville, the creator of a new style of choreography infused with buoyant Danish romanticism. These three have helped the company carve out a distinguished tradition of training and performance known throughout the world.
