Operating in San Francisco's Mission district since 1979, ODC Theater strives to inspire audiences, cultivate artists, engage community, and foster diversity.
ODC Theater, has the distinction of being the oldest contemporary dance producing and presenting organization in San Francisco. The Theater presents year-round diverse programming in contemporary dance, ethnic dance, performance art & opera, music, local and touring artists, and educational programs. The Theater provides access to more than 250 community artists annually and has significant training and mentoring programs for new and emerging artists.
The ODC Theater is closing for major renovations and moving to the Project Artaud Theater in spring 2008: 450 Florida Street, San Francisco, CA 94110. The 2008 season opens at Project Artaud Theater on April 24th with the first of three “Festivals” running through October of 2008. ODC Theater will run the rental program while in residence at Project Artaud Theater.
ODC Residency Program
The Residency Program is a comprehensive, three-year program including presentation, development, and advocacy subsidies, designed to assist artists and their companies through this career transition. There are currently 15 resident artists at the ODC Theater. These are artists who have brought wonderful expression, variety, and quality to the cultural life of our city and are gathering the momentum necessary to leap to that next level of exposure and cultural leadership.
